This gourd was inspired by a trip to the great Northwest. The Bull Elk were starting their annual mating rituals and the girls were
looking..
"The Ritual"
This whole, uncut gourd measures 14" in height including 1 1/2" stem. It is 10" in diameter
at it's widest point. It is a three sided gourd with scenes that depict elk at their most beautiful and majestic time.
The design
is burned on with pyrography, then leather dyes were applied. To finish the piece, a clear, glossy acrylic was applied to the outside.
A simple grapevine wreath makes a perfect stand for this earthy piece.
